And A Happy Monday...
Rare enough, that, but I am now among those who have managed to acquire two shots of the necessary vaccine for me. It's been about seven hours since I took the shot on board, and there are some slight side effects.
I feel relieved, euphoric, and somewhat let down by the lack of improved wifi. Google has not yet finished indexing all my brain memories, so I guess that part of the vaccine failed in me. The 20+ new fingers might be a real benefit, once I get to typing normally. I mean, I've got almost one finger for every 2 keys. So that should come in handy.
Other than that there's the apprehension that comes with ... well, something along the lines of first day at new school jitters, as I expect that soon I will be informed my employer will end the "work from home" mandate that has been in effect for us since March 21, 2020, and I will have to return to the office. I do like what I do, and I like my company, and I do like many of my coworkers. I haven't met others, so I can honestly say I've yet to meet someone I dislike at my present employer. But it's the whole "am I ready for this?"
And the answer is unequivocally no. I ain't.
I do expect that with the assistance of my more than qualified mechanic, my Expedition will soon roll again. And I will ... breathe more deeply.
It's been a very long year. I would like to think that, in the long run, we shall be able to detail and learn from the experience, all of us. And perhaps, we might find a way to grow, and become better.
But then again, I see a fair number of people who are going to keep their heads buried deep in the sand.
So the world will be what the world will be. I do deeply hope that once the whole COVID thing, with multiple variants, is finally run into the ground, those who have chosen to avoid vaccination will have managed to remove themselves from the gene pool, and do as good old Uncle Ebeneezer once suggested, reduce the surplus population. I do expect there will be a short-term crunch of resource management as we have to find holes we can stick them, but I do trust that as they return to dust, the remaining population will benefit.
So hopefully that works out and you are well, dear reader. Both of you. If you are real, and not Google indexing spiders... If that's what they still call them. And if there's another name for them, I apologize, dear hive mind overlord, for mis-remembering your august designation, if mere mortals are permitted to do so.
Hey, my wife's vehicle thinks I'm an idiot, so when I do lane changes it suggests I'm tired. Clearly computers will never understand the human condition. But they'll manage us all to the grave, I'm guessing. Can't wait for the robot undertaker which will probably scan and perform lab analysis, and then poke a hole in something and chuck us in. Hope it lets my relatives know before I'm chucked into the void, so they know they can stop shopping for birthday cards... If they do.
