This is Ridiculous. Broken HTML Mode.

 The full horror story...

At least, the bits I recall.  I was fiddling around with a post about spam.  I'd seen a rather large increase from 20-30 pieces a day to 200-250 pieces.  I was putting together a post which included a table.  Because the table editing here ain't what I'm used to (Let's be honest -  he's only happy when he can fiddle directly with the HTML, cell spacing, padding, colors, alignments, etc. - ed.)  so I was flipping back and forth between HTML mode and compose mode.

Then the wheels came right off the bus.  Went from pencil to < > symbols to only the < > working, and a busy little spinning wheel - which never got anywhere.

I cleared the cache, cleared cookies, and tried a few other tricks.  Then was able to pull it up on a new computer.  And it all worked, then.  So I cannot recommend that particular course of action unless you're just about ready to buy a new computer.
